The Massachusetts Elder Abuse Hotline is moving to a single intake process with one phone number for the entire state starting on June 30, 2017. The phone number to call to report elder abuse – anywhere in Massachusetts – is 1-800-922-2275. This is designed to simplify and streamline the process for elder abuse reporting. The Executive Office of Elder Affairs (EOEA) is in charge of the system and is rolling out an education and marketing plan to ensure the public is informed of this substantial change to the system. The new call center is located at the University of Massachusetts, but all reports of abuse will still be routed to the local Area Agency on Aging that handles them in your area, for screening, investigation and service planning. The AAA for Tyngsboro and surrounding towns is Elder Services of Merrimack Valley, Inc. located at 280 Merrimack Street, Suite 400, Lawrence, MA 01843. You can call them directly at 978-683-7747 or on the web at www.esmv.org. Remember, after June 30, call the central reporting center to report elder abuse at 1-800-922-2275.
