New York City, among other places, has begun using a new logo for handicapped parking and accessibility. The logo is a variation of the old familiar one but is changed to give the impression of action rather than passivity. The goal is to show that persons with disabilities are not static and move around and live their lives just like anyone else. I think this is a great idea and is another step in helping to recognize that those of varying abilities can, should be, and are regular members of society entitled to all the rights and privileges (and problems, worries and troubles) of any of us.
If you or a family member has a disability, you should consider whether or not you need a Supplemental (or Special) Needs Trust. See your Elder Law and Disability Lawyer.
